INFANT - KADOGO
Meaning of name: Kadogo is the Swahili word for ‘small’
Age: About 2 years (estimated to have been born in 2007)
Who’s yo daddy? Ndahura
Who’s yo mama? Kamunga
This wee infant is as playful and as curious as his companions in the forest. Even though he can’t wander too far away from his mother Kamunga, he is not lacking in friends as his mother often hangs around with his friend Mubwindi’s mum so that he and Mubwindi can play together.
He can also count on a daily play visit from Twakire who comes by to play with them. You can bet that your little friend, Kadogo looks at Twakire with envy and longs for the day when he too will be able to explore the jungle as he desires. Currently he can’t get too far away from his mother, for even though he can walk, he gets tired quickly and appreciates the ride on her back or in her arms to wherever the next destination may be.
He doesn’t know it yet, but by the end of next year, he will be tailing Twakire as an independent little gorilla as it’s likely that his mother will have weaned him. But you can bet your friend won’t like the weaning process. Baby gorillas rarely do.
